What is the ideal course of action for a dutiful son who faces ingratitude from his parents, especially when they fail to visit him in the hospital despite being in good health and socializing with others, and what should he do regarding his position before his wife and children?

Children have rights over their parents, beginning with choosing a righteous wife, then giving the newborn a good name, and providing for them with food, drink, clothing, and medicine. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said to Hind: "Take what suffices you and your child in a reasonable manner." A father may be imprisoned if he refrains from spending on his young child. Among the rights also are treating them kindly, being just between them in giving, raising them, teaching them matters of their religion, and protecting them from the punishment of Allah, as Almighty Allah says: "O you who have believed, protect yourselves and your families from a Fire whose fuel is people and stones." The parents' failure to fulfill these rights does not justify abandoning or boycotting them, because the parents' right is great, and it is necessary to continue to honor them and treat them kindly.
