The Hadith mentions that whoever wakes up at night and says: "There is no god but Allah, alone, without a partner. To Him belongs all sovereignty and all praise, and He is over all things competent. All praise is due to Allah, and glory be to Allah, and there is no god but Allah, and Allah is the Greatest, and there is no power or strength except with Allah," then supplicates, his supplication will be answered. And if he performs ablution and prays, his prayer will be accepted. The word "تعارَّ" (ta'arra) is understood to mean waking up. This remembrance is specific to waking up from sleep, and it is recommended to say it immediately upon waking and before anything else, even if one intends to go back to sleep. The order is: the remembrance first, then the supplication, then ablution and prayer if possible. Supplication is recommended before, during, and after the prayer.
