Is raising one's hands upon entering the mosque on Friday while the Imam is delivering the sermon, without performing prayer, rooted in religion or is it an innovation (bid'ah)?

Replacing the raising of hands in the manner of the opening Takbir (Takbirat al-Ihram) with the two Rak'ahs of salutation (Tahiyyat al-Masjid) has no basis, is an innovation (muhdath), and contradicts the Sunnah. Muslim reported that Sulayk al-Ghatafani came while the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, was delivering a sermon. Sulayk sat down, so the Prophet said: "O Sulayk, stand up and pray two Rak'ahs, and be brief in them."
