Will the repentance of a sinner who sins and repents repeatedly be accepted, knowing that one of the conditions for repentance is not to persist in sin? And if there is a person who has committed grave sins, such as selling pornographic films and practicing sodomy, and is now afflicted with a terminal illness, will his repentance be accepted if he gives charity with money? And will he bear the burden of those whom he taught these sins if they commit them with others? And how can this person be saved?

No matter how great or oft-repeated a sin may be, the forgiveness of Allah is greater. Allah accepts a servant's repentance as long as the servant repents to Him sincerely and fulfills the conditions of repentance. If a servant repents and then returns to the sin, their first repentance is valid and accepted, and they are held accountable only for the second sin. This is not considered persistence [in sin], because a persistent sinner is one who resolves not to abandon the sin. Let this person repent and return to Allah with sincerity, and let him know that Allah forgives all sins, as Allah Almighty said: "Say, 'O My servants who have transgressed against themselves [by sinning], do not despair of the mercy of Allah. Indeed, Allah forgives all sins. Indeed, it is He who is the Forgiving, the Merciful.'" (Quran 39:53). Whoever is sincere in their repentance from grave sins, Allah accepts their repentance and pardons their evil deeds, and they return as if they had not sinned, according to the Prophet's (PBUH) saying: "The one who repents from sin is like one who has no sin." Their repentance is accepted as long as their soul has not reached their throat, as Allah Almighty said: "But repentance is not [accepted] of those who [continue to] do evil deeds up until, when death comes to one of them, he says, 'Indeed, I have repented now.'" (Quran 4:18). So let him have a good opinion of his Lord and strive in obedience, for good deeds erase evil deeds.
