Is it permissible for one spouse to criticize the other?

Couples must treat each other with kindness, and it is not permissible for a husband to insult or mock his wife because of her frizzy hair, based on the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "Do not deface the face," meaning do not say it is ugly. This prohibition encompasses ugly words and actions directed at the face and elsewhere.

Affection between spouses requires patience, overlooking mistakes, and disregarding slip-ups, as the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "A believing man should not hate a believing woman. If he dislikes one of her characteristics, he will be pleased with another."

The husband is advised to fear Allah and treat his wife with kindness, and the wife is advised to be patient and not return ill-treatment in kind.
