Do two expiations become obligatory for someone who deliberately had intercourse with his wife during the daytime in Ramadan on two different days, knowing that on one of those days, dawn broke while he was still engaged in intercourse after the adhan for a period of time, or is one expiation sufficient for him? And is it permissible to give the expiation as cash?

If the dawn (Fajr) prayer call (adhan (definition)) is made while a Muslim is engaging in sexual intercourse, he must withdraw immediately, and there is no penalty upon him. However, if he continues intercourse after the adhan, he must make up for that day (qada') and offer expiation (kaffarah (definition)). If he engages in intercourse on another day, he incurs another expiation. The expiation for intercourse is freeing a slave; if unable, then fasting for two consecutive months; if unable, then feeding sixty poor people. Paying the monetary value is not sufficient.
