What is the ruling on using a pirated Quran CD—given that it is the only one available—after having sworn that it is original in order to open it?

Contemporary scholars have differed regarding the ruling on copying computer programs without the owner's permission. Some hold the view that it is impermissible, citing the hadith "Muslims are bound by their conditions" and the hadith "The wealth of a Muslim person is not lawful except with his good will." They argue that the right of a non-belligerent disbeliever is to be respected just like the right of a Muslim, and that copying is absolutely impermissible if general and specific copying is prohibited. Others hold the view that it is permissible for private use, not for commercial gain, especially for students of knowledge who cannot obtain original copies. The more cautious approach for a Muslim is to avoid purchasing, using, or copying pirated discs to avoid disagreement. However, if it is impossible to obtain original copies, there is no harm in acquiring pirated ones, as long as it does not lead to a false oath. The 'Yameen Ghamoos' (perjurious oath) is one of the gravest major sins, so called because it plunges its taker into sin or into the fire of Hell. Repentance is obligatory for it, but no expiation for an oath is required.
