Is it permissible for a poor person, who barely earns his daily sustenance with a monthly salary of 1740 Egyptian pounds, to take low-value items belonging to students that no one inquires about, in a school where he works, knowing that these items become the property of the school owner?

If the owner of the belongings is known, it is not permissible to take them without his permission. However, if the owner is unknown, then it is a "Luqatah" (found item). If its value is small and most people do not care about it, it is permissible to take it without announcing it, unless its owner becomes known, in which case it must be returned to him. But if it is of value that most people (of average means) would care about, then it must be announced for a period of one year, and it is not owned until after this period expires. These items do not belong to the school owner; rather, they belong to the finder if they are of little value.
