Slander (Qadhf) that necessitates the legal punishment (Hadd) is to accuse someone of committing fornication (zina) or sodomy (liwāṭ). This is forbidden by the Qur’an, the Sunnah, and scholarly consensus (ijmāʿ), and it is considered one of the major sins. The statement, "It is illogical to close the door at such a time," is not considered slander, because it is a judgment that the act is wrong, not an affirmation of fornication. The young man and woman should be advised to conceal [their private matters] and not expose them, and the prohibition of khalwah (private seclusion between a man and a woman who are not mahram) should be explained to them.
