Is the recitation of Surahs Al-Baqarah and Al-Imran stipulated to be inside the house, or is it permissible outside of it?
Reciting the Qur’an is a great act of worship for which the reciter is rewarded ten good deeds for every letter. A Muslim should be diligent in it. It has been reported that Surat Al-Baqarah expels devils from the house, as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: “Indeed, Satan flees from the house in which Surat Al-Baqarah is recited.” The reason for this is what the surah contains of rulings, wisdoms, parables, proofs, clarification of laws, and exposure of Satan’s cunning. It is said to contain a thousand commands, a thousand prohibitions, a thousand judgments, and a thousand reports. There is no difference in its recitation for expelling devils whether it is in the courtyard of the house or in its rooms; both are sufficient.
