Is it permissible to sprinkle water, over which verses of Ruqyah have been recited, in the corners of an uninhabited house, and then go and pray in it and recite the Qur’an in it from time to time, as a means of protecting it from devils?
Prayer and reading the Quran at home are causes of blessings and expelling devils. This includes reading the Quran over water and sprinkling it in the corners of the house, while avoiding impure places, whether the house is inhabited or not. This is indicated by the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "Do not make your houses graves, for indeed Satan flees from the house in which Surat Al-Baqarah is recited." And his saying: "When one of you finishes his prayer in his mosque, let him allocate a share of his prayer to his house, for Allah will place goodness in his house because of his prayer." Abu Hurayrah also clarified that the house becomes spacious for its occupants, angels attend it, and its goodness increases by reading the Quran within it.
