Is it permissible for a widow to rent a house by herself and refuse to live with her in-laws or her family, and is giving her alimony, a portion of which is paid for rent, considered aiding in wrongdoing, and should alimony payments to her and her children be continued or stopped?

widow may live alone if she is trustworthy and no suspicion arises concerning her. Otherwise, her guardians must take her in if she is not trustworthy concerning herself, in order to prevent temptation; for repelling evil is incumbent upon everyone who is capable of it. The maintenance of the widow and her children is not obligatory upon you, as it is incumbent upon her ascendants, descendants, or unblocked heirs. However, spending on them is an act of charity that Allah loves and rewards, and one who strives to support a widow and a needy person is like a mujahid in the way of Allah.
