What is the ruling on a woman who broke her fast during Ramadan for eight years due to illness, and did not feed a poor person due to financial hardship, except for five days in a year?

If the mother is afflicted with an illness from which recovery is not expected, she must pay a fidyah (expiation) by feeding one poor person for each day. This fidyah remains a debt upon her if she is unable to pay it until she can, or it may be waived for her according to some scholars. However, if her illness is one from which recovery is expected, she must make up the missed fasts after her recovery.
