Is it permissible to sell copied video game discs and install electronic parts to enable the reading of copied discs, knowing that the original copies are unavailable, and taxes are paid to the National Copyright Office, and the sale of indecent games is avoided?

The fatwa (definition) is that copyrights are owned by their holders, and it is not permissible to infringe upon them. Accordingly, it is not permissible to sell copied discs that their owners prohibit from being copied. The unavailability of original copies or their high price does not permit the sale of non-original copies. Furthermore, it is not permissible to install electronic components that enable devices to read copied discs, as this constitutes aiding in their use. Allah Almighty said: "And do not cooperate in sin and aggression. And fear Allah; indeed, Allah is severe in penalty."
