What is the ruling on praying behind the imams of the Haram in Makkah if their school is Wahhabism, given that Muslims in China declare anyone who does so a disbeliever?
Prayer behind the imams of the is valid and sufficient, for they are Muslims and eminent scholars known for the soundness of their creed. Allah has chosen them to lead the prayers in the purest places on earth. Declaring them or the millions who pray behind them as disbelievers is a grave and serious error. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, warned against declaring a Muslim as a disbeliever. As for describing them as Wahhabis, this is a label given by some innovators to distort the call of Sheikh Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab, which advocates rejecting innovations. Therefore, the questioner should beware of repeating these statements without reflection.
