Are we held accountable for what we write? Thank you.

It is permissible to write what it is permissible to utter, and it is forbidden to write what it is forbidden to utter, because writing is a means of expression just like speech. A person will be held accountable for what he writes, just as he will be held accountable for what he utters and for all his deeds, in affirmation of the Almighty's saying: {And the record [of deeds] will be placed [open], and you will see the criminals fearful of that within it, and they will say, "Oh, woe to us! What is this book that leaves neither a small thing nor a large thing except that it has enumerated it?" And they will find what they did present [before them]. And your Lord wrongs no one.} And as stated in His saying, Exalted be He: {And We place the scales of justice for the Day of Resurrection, so no soul will be wronged at all. And if there is [even] the weight of a mustard seed, We will bring it forth. And sufficient are We as accountant.} Therefore, one should write nothing but what he would be pleased to see on the Day of Resurrection.
