What is the ruling on someone who, when asked about a Qur'anic verse, responds by citing a wording whose presence therein he is unsure of, while giving the questioner the impression that it is from the Qur'an?

It is sufficient for a jurist, when answering a questioner about a legal issue, that he predominates his assumption about the correctness of the wording, even if he is not certain of it. However, it is impermissible for him to answer with doubt and without a predominant assumption.
