Is it permissible to fast the Day of Arafah while still owing days from Ramadan?

If you have a missed fast from Ramadan and wish to fast the Day of Arafah as a make-up for it, there is no objection to that, and it is hoped that you will receive an additional reward beyond the reward for making up the fast. Making up missed fasts on these days is better than performing supererogatory fasts. It is not advisable to combine the intention of making up a fast with the intention of a supererogatory fast, in order to avoid the disagreement of those who prohibited combining the two intentions.
