What is the ruling on the inheritance of a woman who left behind a husband, a daughter, two maternal half-brothers, and an apostate son?
The inheritance is divided as follows: The husband receives one-fourth due to the presence of the daughter, and the daughter receives one-half. The two maternal brothers are excluded by the daughter and thus do not inherit. The disbelieving son does not inherit, based on the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: "A Muslim does not inherit from a disbeliever, nor does a disbeliever inherit from a Muslim." The remaining one-fourth is returned to the daughter alone, as the husband is not among those to whom the surplus beyond the fixed shares is returned. Inheritance cases must be referred to the courts to verify all details, heirs, wills, and debts.
