Wearing silver chains is forbidden for men according to the majority of jurists, because it involves using silver in ways not permitted by Islamic law, and because it involves imitating women. Some jurists made exceptions for men regarding silver rings, belts, and sword ornaments. As for wearing them to ward off the evil eye, this is considered a forbidden amulet.
