Is the ruling on drawing people in general, and specifically drawing half of a person from the head to the stomach, prohibited (haram)? If it is prohibited, what should be done with previous drawings? Is publishing these drawings on Instagram considered prohibited (haram), necessitating the deletion of the account? Does the same ruling apply to drawing cartoon characters and anime?

Drawing only the face, or the face with a part of the body without which a human cannot live (such as the chest and abdomen), is a matter of scholarly disagreement. The more scrupulous approach is to avoid drawing the face to steer clear of disagreement and to avoid doubt, in accordance with the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "The image is the head; so if the head is cut off, there is no image." If the drawing lacks that without which a human cannot live, then there is a concession, and it is not obligatory to efface it according to those who permit it. However, it is preferable to avoid drawing the face with its details, and this includes real people, cartoon characters, and animated drawings. Possessing the ability to draw forbidden images does not make them permissible; these are trials from Allah to reveal one's true nature. Allah Almighty says: "O you who have believed, Allah will surely test you with something of game which your hands and spears attain, that Allah may know who fears Him unseen. But whoever transgresses after that, then for him is a painful punishment."
