From the drink of the people of Hell is "Al-Sadeed" (pus and blood); so what is "Al-Sadeed"?
The exegetes mentioned that sadeed (pus/ichor) is the fluid that flows from the skins and flesh of the people of Hellfire, or it is the essence of the people of Hellfire. It was also said that it is pus and blood. This is derived from sadd (to avert) because it averts the viewer from looking at it. This is a form of torment. The description of the drink of the people of Hellfire has been mentioned in several verses, including the Almighty's saying: "And if they implore relief, they will be relieved with water like molten copper that scalds faces. Wretched is the drink, and evil is the resting place." (Al-Kahf: 29), and His saying: "and they will be given to drink scalding water that will sever their intestines." (Muhammad: 15), and His saying: "They will not taste therein [any] coolness or drink, except scalding water and [foul] purulence." (An-Naba: 24-25).
