What is the authenticity of the story of Uthman ibn Affan stoning a woman who gave birth six months after her marriage, and what is the correct Islamic legal ruling for this case?

The stoning of a woman who gave birth at six months, attributed to Uthman ibn Affan, may Allah be pleased with him, has not been established with an authentic chain of narration. Rather, what has been reported indicates that he intended to stone her but did not act upon it after consulting the Companions. This chain of transmission is weak because it is an un-narrated report (balagh) without a chain of attribution, and the narration of Ibn Ishaq within it is weak. Meanwhile, strong narrations have been reported confirming that she was not stoned, as Uthman left her alone after consulting Ibn Abbas and his argumentation using Quranic verses that the minimum period of pregnancy is six months.
