What should someone do who finds a pack of cigarettes thrown on the road and takes it, and have scholars discussed unlawful found property (al-luqaṭah al-muḥarramah)?

Cigarettes are Islamically forbidden because they are considered evil things that contain harms. Whoever destroys them will be rewarded and bears no sin, nor does he owe anything. Everything that is forbidden must be destroyed; it is not permissible to identify it or return it to its owner, as that would be aiding in sin.
