Must you return the cigarettes to their owner or destroy them and pay their value, after finding what your friend bought in your car without your knowledge?

It is permissible to destroy tobacco if that helps the smoker quit or reduce their consumption, and if the destroyer does not fear harm, and if destroying it does not necessitate compensation for its value, because it has no sanctity in Islamic law. However, if destroying it does not help the smoker quit, but rather they will buy a replacement for it, then it is not advisable to destroy it due to its lack of benefit.
