What is the Sharia ruling regarding a husband's demand for 33,0 Euros from his wife in exchange for Khul', along with her returning the dowry of 550 Euros, despite her insistence on divorce and her refusal to pay the requested amount due to his threats to kill her, his frequent travel, and the resulting loss of trust, love, and fear of him?

The answer

Issues involving disputes and objectionable acts are referred to the judiciary. If the spouses do not reconcile, they either resort to the judiciary or appoint two arbitrators for reconciliation or divorce.

Among what can be advised: - It is obligatory for the spouses to live together amicably, and threatening the wife with death is a clear reprehensible act. - It is the husband's right to prevent his wife from going out for non-essential reasons. It is disliked to prevent her from going to the mosque unless there is a fear of mischief. - It is the wife's right that her husband not be absent from her for more than six months without an excuse. - If the wife is harmed by her husband's abuse, she has the right to refer the matter to the judge to prevent him, or to rule for divorce due to harm. - If the wife requests a divorce without a valid reason, he may refuse until she forfeits her dowry or part of it to him. It is permissible to agree on more than her dowry, but it is recommended that he not take more than her dowry.
