Is the meat of a donkey or a horse forbidden?
The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, forbade the consumption of the meat of domestic donkeys. As for horses, their meat is permissible to eat, due to his permission, peace and blessings be upon him, for that. What confirms this is the statement of Asma: "We slaughtered a horse during the time of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, while we were in Medina, and we ate it." The view of disliking or prohibiting it, which some scholars reported, is based on a weak , and Abu Dawud said that it is abrogated. In conclusion, what is correct among scholars is the permissibility of eating horse meat without disliking it, and this is the of Shafi'i and Ahmad.
