Is it permissible to respond to colleagues' tweets on Twitter, including playful banter, given that it is a platform open to everyone?

Personal online communication between genders is a source of temptation (fitnah), and is only permissible with Sharia-compliant controls, such as ensuring the absence of temptation, the absence of lust, the existence of a genuine need, not exceeding the scope of that need, modesty in language, women not posting their pictures, and men not looking at them. Mere politeness or making it public does not negate its impermissibility. If the communication is not for a genuine need, but merely for acquaintance, friendship, or joking, then it is forbidden because it is a means to corruption and an expansion of the relationship.
