The answer

Blood after a miscarriage is considered postpartum bleeding (nifas) if the aborted fetus shows signs of human creation (at least 81 days old). Otherwise, it is considered irregular bleeding (istihada), unless it coincides with the usual menstrual period. So, if the aborted fetus showed signs of human creation, the blood is nifas. If the bleeding stops and her husband has intercourse with her, there is no sin. If the bleeding returns before forty days, she is considered postpartum again. If it extends beyond forty days, it is istihada, unless it coincides with her usual menstrual period. However, if the fetus did not show signs of human creation, the blood is istihada, and there is no sin in her husband having intercourse with her.
