Is wearing Islamic attire, carrying the Qur'an, and openly speaking about religion in a Muslim country whose government is trying to secularize it considered a challenge to its laws? And is there anything reported from the Prophet, may Allah’s prayers and peace be upon him, indicating his observance of the laws of the countries he visited in such matters?

A Muslim in a land of disbelief must display the rituals of Islam as much as possible, such as the remembrance of Allah (dhikr), recitation of the Qur’an, adherence to Islamic dress, and avoidance of prohibitions. If systems are imposed upon him that prevent him from doing so, he must move to another place if possible; otherwise, he should display what he can of his religion's rituals. For religion is not confined to the home and the mosque but is practiced in all public places. A Muslim should be a good example for Muslims in their lands and encourage them to display their religion, seeking reward from Allah for any harm that may befall him.
