If the husband utters the divorce or writes it with the intention of effecting it, then it has occurred. Its occurrence is not prevented by the wife's ignorance of it or by its not being documented in the divorce paper with details such as the presence of a female child or maintenance. However, the right of the female child to maintenance and the wife's right to it during the waiting period (iddah) are established.
