Is it permissible to give zakat to children who are separated from their parents?

It is permissible to give zakat to children in certain cases and not in others. If the son is poor and unable to earn a living, his maintenance is obligatory upon the father, and the father is not permitted to give his zakat to him. However, if the son is in debt (Gharim) and unable to repay his debts, it is permissible for the father to give him from the zakat, specifically from the share designated for debtors, to settle his debts.
