Is it permissible to give the obligatory zakat on wealth to married children who are financially independent?

Zakat is only to be given to the eight categories [of recipients]. It is not permissible for a father to give his Zakat to his poor or needy children, because their maintenance is obligatory upon him if he is well-off. However, it is permissible for him to give it to them if they are in debt, to pay off their debts, as he is not obligated to pay off their debts.
