To what extent is the soundness of the sacred حديث (Hadith Qudsi) narrated by Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) from the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), in which Allah the Almighty says: "My servant, why do you despair? Am I not the One who brought you forth, and girded you with My security? Why do you ignore Me as if you have not known Me, and turn away as if you have not agreed with Me? My servant: If you seek our dismissal, we will dismiss you; and if you repent to us, we will accept you; and if you resolve to seek us, we will draw you near; and if your guide is disturbed, we will show you the way; and if you antagonize yourself in the love of Our affection, We will befriend you; and if you weep over the harm of your remedy, We will heal you; and if you weep over your affliction, We will cure you; and if you weep out of fear, We will bring you into Our presence; and if you weep out of dread, We will grant you security; and if you weep out of sorrow for what you have missed of Our rights, We will compensate you"?

This hadith has no basis in the books of Sunnah, and none of the scholars have mentioned it. Therefore, it is impermissible to narrate it or attribute it to Allah or His Messenger, for it is a lie against them. Allah the Almighty said: ﴿And who is more unjust than one who fabricates a lie against Allah?﴾ And the Prophet, peace be upon him, said: «Whoever narrates a hadith from me, knowing it to be a lie, is one of the liars.» In the Book of Allah and the authentic hadiths, there is sufficient guidance without these baseless hadiths. Allah the Almighty said: ﴿Say, "O My servants who have transgressed against themselves [by sinning], do not despair of the mercy of Allah. Indeed, Allah forgives all sins. Indeed, it is He who is the Forgiving, the Merciful."﴾ And Al-Tirmidhi narrated from Anas, may Allah be pleased with him, that he heard the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, say: «Allah, Blessed and Exalted is He, said: "O son of Adam, as long as you invoke Me and hope in Me, I will forgive you for what you have done, and I do not mind. O son of Adam, were your sins to reach the clouds of the sky, and then you sought My forgiveness, I would forgive you, and I do not mind."»
