How sound is this Sacred Hadith (Hadith Qudsi): "O son of Adam, I have allotted your provision for you, so do not tire yourself... If you are content with what I have allotted for you, I will bring ease to your heart, and thereby you will be praiseworthy in My sight... But if you are not content with what I have allotted for you, then by My might and My majesty, I will unleash the world upon you... and..."?

Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah stated that this hadith is from the Israʼiliyyat (stories from Jewish traditions). Ibn Kathir mentioned something similar, and it is also from the Israʼiliyyat. Based on this, it is not permissible to attribute this statement to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, even though it is permissible to narrate it for admonition and reflection, provided it is clarified that it is in no way from the Prophet’s hadith. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Narrate from Banu Isra'il, and there is no harm." What is meant by the permissibility of narrating from them is that which contains good matters. As for what is known to be false, it is not permissible.
