What is the ruling on sayings that attribute actions and attributes like silence, cunning, or action to days and time? Are they figurative, or are they blameworthy because they attribute negative attributes to Allah the Almighty or associate the creation with Him in His actions? What is the ruling on the saying: "Long live the president forever, long live he, the Everlasting, the Self-Sufficient. He has the attributes of our Lord, but he has a child"?

Adding an action to time is metaphorical; it does not mean that time manages itself, but rather it is a creation subservient to Allah's command. Cursing time differs from describing it; the former is a fault and a reproach, while the latter is a statement and information. There is no harm in expressions that describe time. However, the third expression is hideous, and Allah's Beautiful Names and Attributes must be protected from such things. Al-Qadi Iyad mentioned that likening prophets or angels for personal gain demonstrates a lack of reverence for prophethood and warrants punishment. If this applies to the Messenger (peace be upon him), then how much more so does it apply to Allah the Almighty?
