Has the siege mentioned in the noble Hadith: "Iraq has withheld its dirham and its qafiz, and Syria has withheld its mudy and its dinar, and Egypt has withheld its irdab and its dinar, and you have returned to where you started," already occurred in Iraq and Syria (Gaza) with the siege of Egypt remaining, or has it not occurred yet?

The hadith is authentically reported in Sahih Muslim, and interpreting it out of its proper context is reprehensible religiously and objectionable rationally. Imam An-Nawawi explained it and mentioned four interpretations of its meaning, the most famous of which is that the 'Ajam (non-Arabs) and the Romans will take over the lands at the end of time, preventing Muslims from obtaining their provisions. Muslim narrated from Jabir: "Soon there will come to them neither a qafiz (a measure of grain) nor a dirham." We asked, "From where will that be?" He said, "From the 'Ajam, they will prevent that." An-Nawawi mentioned that this prevention existed in his time in Iraq and is present now, which indicates its continuity or recurrence. Ash-Sham includes Syria, Jordan, Lebanon, and parts of northern Saudi Arabia, and not just Gaza or Palestine. Interpreting the hadith to refer to a specific meaning and date is not permissible without proof.
