Is it permissible to eat meat slaughtered by electric shock or by shooting a bullet to the brain, by analogy with hunting, in order to avoid hardship in searching for meat slaughtered in the prescribed Islamic manner, knowing the saying of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him: "Leave that which makes you doubt for that which does not make you doubt"?

"Analogizing slaughter to hunting is flawed and invalid because the conditions for each differ. Hunting requires the animal to be wild and naturally unmanageable, catchable only by stratagem. If the hunter reaches the prey while it is still alive with a stable life after being struck, he must slaughter it properly (tadhkiyah); otherwise, it is carrion and impermissible to eat. This is based on the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: 'If your trained dog brings back the prey to you, and you have mentioned the name of Allah upon it, and you reach it while it is still alive and perform its slaughter, then do so. But if you do not reach it while it is alive, then do not eat it. And if your hand brings back the prey to you, and you have mentioned the name of Allah upon it, and you reach it while it is alive and perform its slaughter, then do so. But if you do not reach it while it is alive, then eat it [meaning, it is permissible even if not slaughtered if it dies from the hunt].'"
