A slaughtered animal killed by a bullet to the head is considered mawqūdhah (struck dead) and impure. It is not permissible to eat it except in cases of extreme necessity, such as hunger where one finds no other food to satisfy their hunger. However, tasting it without necessity is not permissible. If the animal is caught while it is dying, and slaughtered before it dies, then it is permissible to eat it and to taste it. But if there is doubt whether its dhakāh (ritual slaughter) was performed before death or if it died before the slaughter, then it is not permissible.
