Chatting between non-mahram men and women is forbidden due to the evils and corruptions it may lead to. It can result in illicit relationships, violation of honor, and falling into vice.

The ruling on chatting in Ramadan is the same as outside of it. If it is forbidden, its prohibition remains and is intensified in Ramadan due to its status and virtue. If it is permissible, it is often not recommended due to the waste of time and engaging in useless talk.

A Muslim should be keen to preserve their time and life, and spend it on what benefits them in this world and the hereafter, especially in the month of Ramadan, which is a month of acts of worship and multiplied rewards.
