How can I rid myself of my attachment to a girl who got married, especially since she was the cause of my guidance, and my remembrance of religion increases my memories of her, which negatively affects my acts of worship and my life in general, despite my repeated attempts to forget?

Before answering the question, it is important to point out the seriousness of some phrases mentioned by the questioner, such as: "Religious devotion has not benefited me for happiness; rather, it has increased my pessimism," and "I cannot be optimistic about the existence of something called happiness," and "I do not want religious treatment or supplications," and others.

As for the question, we do not possess miracles, and the cure lies in the means that the questioner rejected, yet they are tried and effective for his condition.

We advise the questioner, first, to present his case to a psychologist. Then, he should know that among the causes for curing obsessive love is to make the soul despair of the beloved. When the soul despairs, it finds rest. If the sickness of obsessive love is not removed by despair, then this is a severe deviation in temperament, and one moves to another treatment, which is treating the mind by knowing that the heart's attachment to something for which there is no hope of attainment is a kind of madness.

If the soul does not accept this remedy, then let him consider the immediate harms that this desire brings, and the benefits it prevents. If his soul does not accept this remedy, then let him remember the beloved's flaws that prompt him to detest her.

If all these remedies fail, then nothing remains but sincere resort to Allah Almighty, through prostration, supplication, and prayer.
