Satan is an enemy to man, and the intelligent person must beware of him. Allah has blessed you by enabling you to memorize His Book and by granting you a committed family. So, thank Allah by increasing your obedience, that the blessing may endure: "If you are grateful, I will surely increase you [in favor]; but if you deny, indeed, My punishment is severe." Beware of neglecting your review of the Qur'an lest you forget it. The one who carries the Qur'an should adhere to its manners and be guided by its guidance, as Ibn Mas'ud said: "It is fitting for the carrier of the Qur'an to be known by his night when people are asleep, and by his day when people are excessive, and by his sorrow when people rejoice, and by his weeping when people laugh, and by his silence when people engage in vain talk." Repent to Allah with sincere repentance, and strive against your soul: "And those who strive for Us – We will surely guide them to Our ways." Among what helps in repentance and steadfastness are: occupying one's time with acts of obedience, seeking sacred knowledge, keeping company with the righteous, marriage if possible, frequent supplication, remembrance of Allah and recitation of the Qur'an, maintaining fasting, pondering over death and the Day of Judgment, and constantly remembering Allah's perpetual oversight.
