One must fulfill their covenant with Allah to abandon prohibited acts, for Allah Almighty says: "And fulfill the covenant of Allah when you have made it," and the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "What I have forbidden you, avoid." As for swearing to throw away permissible Japanese utensils, it is prescribed to abandon what one swore to do and to offer expiation for the oath, because it involves squandering wealth, which is forbidden. Also, the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Whoever swears an oath and then sees that something else is better than it, let him expiate for his oath and do that which is better."
