What should I do if I swore by Allah not to do something, but now I want to do it?
If what you swore to abandon is (forbidden), then you must abandon it because of its prohibition and to fulfill your oath and promise. If you do it, you have committed a sin, and you owe expiation for breaking an oath (kaffarat ) and sincere repentance ( nasuh).
If it is (disliked) or (permissible), then you should abandon it to fulfill your oath. If you do it, expiation for breaking an oath becomes obligatory upon you.
If it is Mustahabb (recommended) or involves a benefit, then expiate for your oath and do the good deed, based on the saying of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him: "Whoever swears an oath and then sees that something else is better than it, let him do that [which is better], and let him expiate for his oath."
