Is it permissible for one to back out of his marriage in order to support his mother and siblings, and to avoid disputes between the mother and the wife's relatives?

A person who is able should not delay marriage or turn away from it, because it is "more lowering to the gaze and more protective of the private parts." If the mother is poor and has no one to support her but her son, and he cannot combine marriage with supporting her, then supporting her takes precedence if he does not fear hardship for himself. The guardian of the fiancée has no right to stipulate that his daughter be housed away from the mother, for the mother is the most deserving of good companionship and care. If the fiancée's guardian insists on separating the son from his mother, then she should be left, for there are many other women, and "whoever gives up something for the sake of Allah, Allah will compensate him with something better."
