Is it permissible to pray in trousers, and have some scholars issued fatwas against its permissibility based on the hadith "Pray as you have seen me praying" and on their view that it accentuates the 'awrah?

The Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "Pray as you have seen me praying," does not indicate the obligation or condition of wearing a specific type of clothing in prayer. Rather, it is a command regarding the manner of prayer. It is, however, recommended for the worshiper to wear their best clothes, based on the Almighty's saying: "O Children of Adam, take your adornment at every place of prayer."
