A man is permitted to pray in a T-shirt (fanilla) if it is pure and covers the 'awrah, as it is obligatory to cover what is between the navel and the knee. However, it is preferable to adorn oneself for prayer and wear good clothes, based on the Almighty's saying: (O Children of Adam, take your adornment at every place of prayer) [Al-A'raf: 31], and the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "When one of you prays, let him wear his two garments, for Allah is most worthy of being adorned for."
