It is preferable for a Muslim to name their sons and daughters with good names that have known meanings. It is permissible to name with any name that does not contain a legal prohibition, such as servitude to other than Allah, or exalting disbelievers, atheists, transgressors, and oppressors, or promoting their ideas, slogans, and beliefs. If a name is free from these, then there is no objection to naming with it, even if it is for an inanimate object, a plant, or an animal. The name "Diana" includes a meaning that is disliked or forbidden by Islamic law, so one should not name with it.
