The answer

The majority of jurists hold that the maximum duration of postpartum bleeding (nifas) is forty days. Any bleeding that exceeds forty days is considered istihada (non-menstrual vaginal bleeding), and the woman must perform ghusl (ritual purification bath), pray, and fast, unless this blood coincides with her regular menstrual period and does not exceed fifteen days. If the blood after forty days does not correspond to her regular menstrual period, then it is istihada blood. As for not praying after the forty days due to the continuation of blood, there is no sin in it according to the view of some jurists who hold that the maximum duration of nifas is sixty days.
