Is the ascription of the Lamiyyah Poem on Creed to Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah authentic? And is there anything in it that contradicts the madhhab of Ahl al-Sunnah wal-Jama’ah? And what is the meaning of the second hemistich of the third verse: "And with love of kin do I seek intercession"?

The latter-day scholars differed on two opinions regarding the attribution of the poem "Al-Lamiyyah" to Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah:

The first: Affirming its attribution to him, citing its widespread fame and prominent position in manuscripts.

The second: Denying its attribution to him, citing its absence from biographies of Shaykh al-Islam or his own works, and based on a verse within it that Ibn Taymiyyah himself attributed to another reciter.

Some researchers believe that the matter requires further research and investigation to gather evidence and clues before definitively affirming or denying its attribution.

The poem discusses topics of creed such as the love of the Companions and the Household of the Prophet, the attributes of Allah, the Quran, the Scale, the Cistern, the Bridge, Paradise and Hellfire, and the belief of Ahl al-Sunnah wal-Jama'ah.
